In 2024, I had a few goals in my sights. Primarily, I was looking for a new full-time job. But I also wanted to have my first academic journal article accepted as well as work on The Edward MacDowell Project that I began work on this fall.
Unfortunately, life had other plans. 2024 was a year primarily of finding myself and understanding what direction I wanted to take in the coming years. While I wasn’t successful in my larger goals, I did get a better sense of what I want 2025 and the next few years to look like. And in my book, that’s a win. I’ll post some of my goals for the year at the bottom of this blog post.
In April, I will be giving a talk at a retirement gathering for one of my former professors, Dr. Miguel A. Roig-FrancolĂ. He was instrumental in solidifying my interest in the Renaissance composer, Tomás Luis de Victoria, whose work was the focus of my doctoral dissertation. I am excited to celebrate his accomplished career which will bring me back to the Cincinnati area for the first time in a decade.
There will be more updates to my website as well, including some customer experience (CX) thought leadership and the uploading of my previous musicology/music theory research that has been presented at past conferences. Stay tuned!
2025 Goals
- Secure a full-time job, finally
- Submit my first journal article for peer review by April
- Finish 20% (at minimum) of The Edward MacDowell Project typesetting work
- Publish a never-before-published violin and piano work by MacDowell during his student years
- Work on and release my first produced song (I’ve got an idea here, but I need to learn some software to actually get this done!)
