Hi! I’m Devin Chaloux.

Welcome to the home of my eclectic interests and career. At heart, I am a music scholar with a PhD in Music Theory from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. My research spans late 19th/early 20th-century American music and Renaissance polyphony, but I’m also passionate about popular music, EDM, and the intersection of music and the internet.

By trade, I work in Revenue Operations, with a background in customer experience and success primarily in the education/edtech sector.

I have recently begun The Edward MacDowell Project, providing new editions of MacDowell’s compositions. These editions will be licensed through Creative Commons for the enjoyment of all, with a stretch goal of encoding all scores in XML 5.0 for the Music Encoding Initiative.

The Edward MacDowell Project

This project aims to create new, beautifully engraved editions of Edward MacDowell’s complete works—many of which haven’t received fresh editions in decades (if ever). Each score is carefully edited against historical sources and made freely available to performers, scholars, and music lovers worldwide.

The goal is to help preserve and celebrate MacDowell’s music and his pivotal role as one of America’s early cultural superstars, while providing modern, high-quality editions that meet today’s engraving standards.
